Tenure-Track Professorship for „Plant Developmental Signalling” |
We seek a young and already successful scientist with an active research program in the field of Plant Developmental Genetics and Signalling. The focus of the work should be on molecular signaling processes that trigger, steer and/or terminate developmental aspects of tissue and/or organ development. The successful candidate will be part of the Excellence Cluster CIBSS Centre for Integrative Biological Signalling Studies, which aims at understanding signaling mechanism across biological scales, and to develop new tools to control cellular and organ functions. The candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to a planned collaborative research centre (CRC/SFB) on plant-environment interactions, and to interact with the local DFG-funded graduate school GRK2344. We expect active participation in the trinational curriculum in biotechnology with the École Supérieure de Biotechnologie Strasbourg, and teaching in Plant Genetics and Plant Developmental Signalling at Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. level. The University of Freiburg is a leading research university with two Excellence Clusters, CIBSS and livMatS, several collaborative research centers and very strong graduate training programs. Freiburg is a highly com-petitive and internationally renowned research location and – together with the University of Basel (CH), the University of Strasbourg (F), the University Haute-Alsace (F) and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (D) – also part of the „European Campus“. Prerequisites for the employment are a university degree, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication record. This position is a fixed term of four years. After a successful interim evaluation, it will be extended by two years. Furthermore, the tenure procedure towards Full Professorship W3 will be initiated after successful interim evaluation. The tenure procedures are regulated in the Statutes and Quality Assurance Concept for Junior Professor-ships and Tenure-Track Professorships and agreed upon with the Ministry of Science (https://www.zuv.uni-freiburg.de/service/tenure). As a prerequisite for granting tenure and the subsequent conversion into a full professorship (W3) (1) the requirements defined in the Statutes and Quality Assurance Concept have to be met and (2) the subject specific criteria determined by the Faculty of Biology have to be met. The following application documents are to be submitted: In addition, we require the completed application form. Full Professorship (W 3) for Theoretical Systems Neuroscience |
This professorship is also particularly suitable for highly qualified early career researchers. The future job holder should be internationally renowned for the investigation of complex brain functions using modern theoretical neuroscientific approaches. In this context, investigations at the systems level using modern approaches from the theoretical and/or computational neurosciences are particularly welcome. Thematically, the professorship should focus on one of the following areas: learning mechanisms, decision-making processes, sensory systems, sensorimotor integration/control, or the mechanistic understanding of neuronal networks in functional and dysfunctional brains. Collaborations with the experimental and theoretical neuroscientific research groups and research centres established in Freiburg are very welcome. Further information on neuroscientific research in Freiburg can be found on the website www.neuro.uni-freiburg.de as well as on the homepages of the Faculty of Biology www.bio.uni-freiburg.de and the Bernstein Center Freiburg www.bcf.uni-freiburg.de. Teaching contributions to the MSc Neuroscience, the BSc and MSc Biology, the Master of Education Biology as well as contributions to the organization of the MSc Neuroscience are expected. Prerequisites for the employment of Professors are a university degree, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected. We are particularly pleased to receive applications from women for the position advertised here. The following application documents are to be submitted:
