Full Professorship (W3) for Functional Proteomics |
We are looking for candidates with an internationally visible and competitive research programme in the proteomic analysis of structure and dynamics of signalling complexes/pathways and networks. We expect a strong expertise in the identification of proteins in complex mixtures, the analysis of posttranslational modifications of proteins and quantitative mass spectrometry. Models can be prokaryotic, plants as well as other eukaryotic organisms or systems. A special research focus of the professorship should be on the analysis of biological signalling pathways. A close integration into the Cluster of Excellence CIBSS and into the Signalling Research Centre BIOSS is expected. It is further desired, that the professorship contributes to other collaborative research programmes such as CRCs 1381, CRC-TRR 130, or RTG 2202 and that it is actively involved in new initiatives, for example in a planned CRC initiative in plant sciences. In addition, the position offers the opportunity to profitably integrate into an existing, broad local cooperation network. With regard to teaching, it is expected that the professorship will contribute to the Bachelor and Master study programs. Prerequisites for the employment of Professors are a university degree, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system are expected. We are particularly pleased to receive applications from women for the position advertised here. The following application documents are to be submitted:

Full Professorship (W3) for Plant Cell Biology |
This professorship is also particularly suitable for highly qualified early career researchers. We seek an internationally renowned scientist in the field of plant molecular biology, who preferentially investigates current topics within the field of molecular plant cell biology using biochemical and/or metabolic approaches. Aspects of signal perception and signal transduction should be visible. Research on plant membranes, the cell wall or metabolic signalling pathways are desirable but not mandatory requirements. The scientific profile of the candidate should integrate well into the over-arching thematic focus “Cellular adaptations of plants to varying environmental cues”. The holder of the professorship will be responsible for teaching all aspects of Cell Biology and Biochemistry of Plants at Bachelor, Master, and PhD level. Given the diversity within the University of Freiburg with its currently funded clusters of excellence CIBSS and livMatS and its close collaborations with local Max-Planck- and Fraunhofer Institutes as well as governmental state institutions, Freiburg is a highly competitive and internationally renowned research location and – together with the University of Basle (CH), the University of Strasbourg (F), the University Haute-Alsace (F) and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (D) – also part of the „European Campus“. Prerequisites for the employment of Professors are a university degree, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected.
