Abstract:
Two major classes of small non-coding RNAs, short interfering RNA and microRNA, have been reported in plants. Small RNAs regulate various aspects of plant development including shoot, root, and organs. In Arabidopsis thaliana, a tasi-RNA pathway regulates both shoot and root patterning through a cross talk with miRNAs. However, in monocot, this tasiRNA plays more diverse role in both organ patterning and root development. This suggests functional diversification of small RNA pathway between monocot and dicot plants.
